In Room Five we have been learning about 2 dimensional shapes. We had to make a screencastify about two dimensional shapes. We had to say what they are called, how many sides, if they are straight or curved and how you know what the shape is.
I was a student at Awahono School in Greymouth and this is where I shared my learning.

The Plastic Mountain
In room five we did some writing about picture of a plastic mountain. We had to include sights, sounds, feelings and sensations. Here is my writing.
The Plastic Mountain
As I walk through what feels like a plastic rubbish dump I feel and hear the different coloured plastic bottles crinkling underneath my muddy feet. The disgusting smell of garbage goes rushing up my nose.
I pick up a green plastic bottle filled with soggy mud. Mum sorts out all the plastic bottles and puts them in giant woven baskets. Behind me there is a gigantic muddy pile of plastic bottles and bags. Dad and my brother are sorting out the clear plastic bottles.
I am feeling sad for all the marine life that this horrid plastic is killing. I turn around I see more plastic spilling from the bridge above us. I am wondering what will happen to all this plastic. Will it go into the ocean and ruin the fishes and the homes of other marine life?

Line Symmetry
In room five for maths, we had to fold a square piece of paper in half, and then we had to draw straight lines, with a ruler from the fold, then we had to cut the shapes out. Then we had two halves of the shape and in the middle was the line of symmetry. We sorted the shapes by four sides, three sides, and more than four sides. The line of symmetry divides a shape in two. Here is my groups work.
Reading Profile
At the start of the term we had to make a reading profile on a google drawing or slideshow. We had to include what book we are reading ,who your favourite authors are, your reading goals, how you went with your reading goals from last term, and a new book you have tried and enjoyed. Here is mine.
