Sid

In room 5 we decided to do some writing about Sid the cat because we are learning to describe, use present tense, linking words and group our writing in paragraphs. Here is my writing.
Sid
Who is Sid? Sid is the curious black and white cat that comes to school. We named him after the book Six Dinner Sid because he demands food from the teachers and we think he has another home.

Sid has patches of short strands of black and  white fur and he has a smudge of black shaped like Africa on his triangular nose. He has a long skinny  black tail and short soft silky fur with swampy green eyes and  white pointy whiskers.

Sid rubs against my legs in the bus line and eats his food that Mrs Whitmore consistently puts in his small food bowl.
Sid likes to be cuddled by students of the school. He purrs as I scratch him under the chin and above his ear. He jumps up onto the milk bins and he tries to get into the classrooms.
                              That is sneaky Sid.

Another Time, Another Place

in class we looked at a picture of some people on a cart with a castle in the distance from the mysteries of Harris Burdick, Another Place, Another Time. We had to make up a story about what happened and we had to include a problem. Here is my writing.
Another Place, Another Time
It was a misty and cloudy morning of an autumn day with a drizzle of rain, and the smell of fresh grass covered the landscape.
Tom, James, Tim and Amy were riding along a railroad on  a rocky foundation in the sea on their small cart that was controlled by sails. The cart went clickity clack, clickity clack as it rode along the railroad.
Tim, Tom, Amy and James were looking forward to going for a visit to the Queen’s magnificent castle in the hills across the sea. But when the the wind started to drop they start going slower and slower until they eventually stopped. It was getting dark and cold,  but Amy their mother had luckily come with warm blankets and some food.
They decided to sleep out in the open, so they walked to a clearing at the side of the track. Then James the father of the boys lit a fire and they settled down to eat.
The next morning it was windy so they hopped back onto the cart, and the cart flew towards the Queen’s castle as the sail bent back in the wind.
When they finally arrived at the Queen’s castle,  the Queen gave them some delicious  coffee and steaming  hot chocolate.
After they had warmed up they went to  join the party. They had a terrific time.

Cross Country Running

Cross Country Running
I’m starting slowly then I start picking up speed. My legs are aching, my heart’s racing. People are cheering loudly, green hills are flashing before my eyes. I’m feeling exhausted. Squishy mud is going into my shoes, the mud is making my feet wet, Yuck! I am feeling tired and puffed.  The strong wind is blowing against my face, I’m trying to go faster as I approach the finish line. Yay I come 7th, I give my Mum a high five and go to the lady near the birdcage. After that I go to Mum and Nana and get a milo and cake. Next year I will try get 5th I can’t wait for next year’s race.
