SLJ Summer Text Graphic

Today one of our tasks was to make a text graphic, I used a photo from around our house instead of a photo of google. Here is my work.

SLJ Poetry Slam Toru Summer Haiku Poem

A Haiku is a poem with three lines, the first line has five syllables, the second has seven syllables and the third has five syllables. Syllables are a bit complicated but the part you need to know for haiku's is that they are different parts of a word and you can count them by: putting your hand under your chin and counting how many times jaw/mouth/tongue move, counting the syllables on your fingers, or clapping your hands for each syllable. Haiku's do not need to rhyme but mine does a little bit. Here is my Haiku about Summer.

SLJ- Bridge Build

I have made a bridge,I think it is quite strong and Watch this video to see my bridge in action. I used modeling clay and bamboo skewers to create my bridge, my bridge is strange looking arch bridge but it still holds quite a lot of weight for its size. I hope you like my bridge!

LINK, PLEASE WATCH THIS p.s the two links are the same.

SLJ Make Something That Floats Attempt 2

My last boat didnt work so well so here is my second attempt. To make my boat I used: a plastic bag, skewers cut in half, a cupcake baking cup and some tape. First I blew air into the zip lock bag and quickly closed it again. then I made a sail using the skewers as the structure and a muffin baking cup for the sail ( this is extra good because it is wax paper meaning it wont go soggy, and also it is very light.) Bellow is some photos and a video of my boat in action. p.s please let me know if the video doesn't work.

SLJ Nano Girl: Make Something That Floats

Our challenge for today was to make something that floats. My boat floats but after  a while it starts sinking, to make my boat I used: six skewers, clingfilm, and tape. First I taped together the skewers to make a square ( I did this my making a criss-cross at each end) then taped a layer of cling film over the top. Then I added a sail by making a A frame over my boat with skewers and then covering it with cling film. Tips: If you make your boat this way it would probably work better if you make the sail frame at the same time as the boat frame. What would I do differently: I would do what I just said and I would put plastic straws over the skewers for extra flotation because my boat sinks after a while. Here are some photos of my boat:

SLJ 2021-22 Nano Girl - Build Something That Flies

Our science challenge today was to build something that flies. I have built a aircraft that flies ( sort of ) and it is a bit of a loopdy loop plane. The things I used to make it are: a old plastic box that used to be a Christmas light box, a wooden skewer, some pretty paper that used to be a party bag, and some tape and glue to hold it together. First I cut up the plastic into a shape similar to a triangle, this didn't fly at all and to add some weight ( and to make it look cool) I put the pretty paper on-top. Then I punctured a hole on both ends of my plane and put a skewer through the middle. My plane still didn't fly very well so I cut the pretty paper into a tail shape, stuck it to the skewer and then trimmed up the front part of the plane. Now my plane flies alright and I think that it is pretty good. Here are some photo's of my plane.
